Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and raised in Barcelona. Her diverse music has earned her the status of "atypical pop star". Her passion for music was ignited by Spanish folk music at the age of 13 years old. She studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop music and hip-hop music. The two singles "Malamente" and "Pienso En Tu Mira" were hugely popular with the Spanish populace and won universal critical acclaim. El Mal Querer, who was awarded the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time, started Rosalia's rise into the world music scene. Rosalia, who explored urban music in her 2019 releases "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi", was a global hit. With her third studio album Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a unique style, straying slightly from the flamenco sound of the first. It featured two singles "La Fama,"" and "Saoko" the album was a hit worldwide and was named the top-rated album of the year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten number one singles in her native country over her entire career. This is the most she's ever had for a local artist. She also has won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year nominations), four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other things. Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the sound of mainstream music through her flamenco-influenced pop"[18[18]. She was also the first Latino-singing artist to be nominated at the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the eldest of four children of Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking business. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They divorced in the year 2019. She has a younger sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative head. Rosalia was fascinated by performing arts from her early years. She was able to discover the discography of Camaron De la Isla. She began her musical education in the Taller de Musics [es]. She completed a six-year program at the academy. She started at the Raval school, then moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was the sole singer in her group, singing at weddings and musical bars. She was compensated "a barely more than 80 euros" or as a reward for dinner. The time was also a time when, Rosalia met many underground Spanish artists who were later successful such as La Zowi, Yung Beef, Kaydy Cain, Hinds and Maria Escarmiento.
