Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born in Ogden Utah on September 15 1915. Fawn MCKAY, born into the Mormon Church's First Family utilized her writing talent as well as research abilities to create the fascinating psycho-historical biographical biography of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 with the title: No Man knows My History, she used both. The title of this book was in response to a funeral address that was delivered by the Church of Latter-Day Saints founder Joseph Smith. The sermon said: "You do not know what I'm about and you've never met my soul." No man knows my history. I cannot tell it. Fawn, a 29-year-old woman wrote: "Since that moment of honesty at least three scores writers have risen to the challenge." Some have deified and abused the man, and others attempt to identify the problem. The problem isn't that there aren't enough documents but they're rather contradictory. It's a daunting job to find these records by separating the first-hand versions from the third-hand versions and then combining Mormon stories with other ones into a coherent collection. This is both exciting, and also instructive. Fawn Brodie's life as a professional was dedicated to this goal. Thaddeus Stewards, the result of her writing and research, made her a world known author. The Scourge of the south (1959) The Devil Drives. The Story of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. A personal history of Richard Nixon (1974) as and posthumously Richard Nixon.
